PETALING JAYA, Feb 3 — Actor-and-director Datuk Farid Kamil alleged in a formal complaint that his outburst at a police station last month was due to his friends purportedly “spiking” his drink.

In the report lodged at the Taman Tun Dr Ismail police station on January 31, he also accused the police of abuse while he was in remand over the alleged assault against a policeman and a civilian at another police station last month.

According to his report sighted by Malay Mail, the 36-year-old actor accused three fellow artistes by name of drugging and causing the conditions that led to his altercation at the Kota Damansara station.

Among others, he said he was not in full possession of his mental faculties at the time, claiming his drink had been spiked by the trio a day before the incident.

The three include a fellow actor/director, a singer who had been prominent in the R&B scene during the 1990s, and another actor.

Malay Mail cannot name the individuals accused for legal reasons.

Aside from the beverage, Farid said he was also offered a cigarette laced with an unknown type of oil by three fellow detainees, which he claimed made him feel intoxicated.

According to the police, the actor allegedly tested positive only for cannabis, for which he has also been charged.

The actor also registered his dissatisfaction with his treatment during his remand following his arrest, naming a policeman who had come in contact with him during the period.

Farid expressed further unhappiness that a photograph of him during the episode at the Kota Damansara police station wound up with the media.

The actor also claimed he was hurt while in police custody.

Yesterday, Selangor Criminal Investigations Department (CID) chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat confirmed that Farid lodged the report on Wednesday in relation to the incident that led to his arrest.

“He wrote about a lot of things in the report and we are currently investigating them,” Fadzil was quoted as saying then.

On January 11, Farid was arrested for allegedly attacking a policeman and a civilian at the Kota Damansara traffic police station.

On January 16, he was charged at the magistrate’s court here with two counts of voluntarily causing hurt, and one count each for disorderly conduct and obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duty.

The court granted him RM12,000 bail with one surety for all the charges.

On January 25, he was again charged at the magistrate’s court with consuming cannabis, and was allowed bail at RM4,000.
